I thought i lost this code. I used it a couple of years ago to develop the Rain hash algorithms (Rainbow is the fastest 128-bit and 256-bit quality hash measured by passing all 200+ tests of SMHasher3)

As I think the idea is useful, even if not implemented perfectly or the only way it could be, I'm releasing it. It also felt good to find the code I labored on was not lost! So here it is. If you can contribute to extend this because you need it to do something, I encourage you to open a PR.

You just had a significant related Show HN https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42460283 a couple of days ago. You can repost after a year, give or take but less than a week is a bit quick.

No I can post now. You mean are people okay with it? I think so. Is it okay with the rules? Well it’s sort of related, but this is significantly distinct.

You sound worried about taking up all the spots, but it’s not like that. I have a huge amount of creative work.

If you feel troubled by this, email hn@news.ycombinator.com and talk it out with them. Thanks for your concern for community but try to be more welcoming, for even better times! Haha :)

You can, of course post, it's just that followup posts like these don't go anywhere because they count as dupes.

Hmm, an automated system that could do with a redo?

You are a ranking moderator? Oh that’s funny haha! :) perhaps still something good to talk out?

Anyway, besides that - At the risk of angering you and incurring a punitive response - let me say the other points still stand.

Thanks! And I guess by New Yorker, you’re the other mentioned in the article. well done! :)

I'm sorry, I don't understand any of this. I'm just telling you something about how followup posts tend to work out on HN, that's all.

            • keepamovin 3 months ago

Oh, really? I assumed you were a mod. It's okay if you don't understand but, no?

You know, there was an article in the New Yorker about the moderators of Hacker News, mentioning two, I thought you were the other one! You were acting very moderater-ly, and your profile says "As seen in the New Yorker" so ...

Anyway, re the automated system for dupes, I meant it might be something to reconsider, ya know, because it seems to bias against people who have a lot of work to show, like me.
